...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS
EVENING...
The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east central Colorado and
northeast Colorado, including the following areas, in east
central Colorado, North and Northeast Elbert County Below 6000
Feet/North Lincoln County. In northeast Colorado, Central and
East Adams and Arapahoe Counties, Logan County, Morgan County,
Northeast Weld County, and Washington County.
* From this afternoon through this evening
* Scattered thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall will be
capable of producing flash flooding. Rainfall rates of 1 to 1.50
inches in 30 to 60 minutes should be expected. Rainfall totals
of 2 to 3 inches will be possible. Thunderstorms will move out
of the foothills by mid-afternoon and then track eastward
across northeast Colorado through the evening hours.
* Low lying areas and areas that have seen recent heavy rainfalls
will be especially susceptible to flooding problems.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
