...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM MDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Colorado, including the following
counties, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson.
* WHEN...Until 645 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 344 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Southwestern Denver, southeastern Lakewood, southwestern
Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Englewood, Greenwood
Village, Roxborough Park, Sheridan, Chatfield Reservoir,
Louviers, Sedalia, northwestern Castle Pines, Cherry Hills
Village, Columbine, Kassler and Ken Caryl.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, highways and underpasses. Additionally, country
roads, farmlands along the banks of creeks, and other low lying
areas are subject to flooding.
