...Heavy snow band moving across southern Douglas and southern
Elbert counties...
At 1035 PM MST, Doppler radar was tracking a band of heavy snow
across southern portions of Douglas and Elbert counties. Snowfall
rates up to 2 inches per hour will accompany this band of snow as it
continues to move southeast. Roads will quickly become icy and
snowpacked as this band of snow moves across with hazardous driving
conditions. In addition visibility will be reduced in blowing snow.
Locations impacted include... Elbert, Simla, Larkspur, Westcreek,
Perry Park, Devil's Head, Matheson and Greenland.

At 935 PM MST, Doppler radar was tracking a band of heavy snow from
near Castle Rock to Agate and moving slowly southeast. An additional
1 to 4 inches is possible with this band. Roads could briefly become
snow covered and slick.

Castle Rock, Elbert, Elizabeth, Kiowa, Simla, Larkspur, Ramah, Perry
Park, Matheson, Agate, Franktown, Ponderosa Park, Devil's Head,

the Cheesman Reservoir towards Byers, moving slowly to the south. An
inch or two of snow is possible with this band. Roads could briefly
become snow covered and slick.

Parker, eastern Littleton, Elbert, Lone Tree, Roxborough Park,

...SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW FOR THE MOUNTAINS TODAY AND TONIGHT...
.A storm system will continue to move across Colorado this afternoon
and evening with strong winds and increasing snow across the
mountains during the day. The heaviest snow is expected to develop
late this afternoon and evening as a cold front sweeps across the
area. This will likely be accompanied by strong and gusty winds,
creating a period of poor visibility and difficult travel conditions
in the Colorado high country. Conditions are then expected to
slowly improve late Wednesday night into Thursday morning as snow
and winds decrease.

* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. The snow may be heavy at
times this afternoon and evening, with total snow accumulations of
6 to 14 inches. Winds gusting up to 60 mph. Snowfall rates may
approach 2 inches per hour in the heavier snow, especially along
the I-70 corridor through the mountains.
* WHERE...The Mountains of Summit County, the Mosquito Range, and
the Indian Peaks.
* WHEN...Until 8 AM MST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become
slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to
falling and blowing snow.
