...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 615 PM MDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of central and northeast Colorado, including the
following counties, in central Colorado, Gilpin. In northeast
Colorado, Jefferson.
* WHEN...Until 615 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 309 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Southwestern Denver, Lakewood, western Arvada, western Wheat
Ridge, Golden, Evergreen, Morrison, Idledale, Red Rocks Park,
White Ranch Open Space, Kittredge, Indian Hills, Bergen Park,
Tiny Town, Rocky Flats, Genesee, Pleasant View, Wah Keeney
Park and Ken Caryl.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, highways and underpasses. Additionally, country
roads, farmlands along the banks of creeks, and other low lying
areas are subject to flooding.
