...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 PM MDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall
continues.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Colorado, including the following
counties, Logan, Morgan and Weld.
* WHEN...Until 830 PM MDT Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 621 AM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain occurred from thunderstorms last night.
This will cause small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 2.5
inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Baymer Creek, South Platte River, Pawnee Creek, Cottonwood
Creek, Sand Creek, Spring Creek, Beall Creek, George Creek,
East Lewis Creek, Darby Creek, Brush Creek, South Pawnee
Creek, West Fork Cottonwood Creek, Pawnee Inlet Number 1 and
Springdale Creek.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sterling, Crook, North Sterling Reservoir, Padroni, Logan
Corners, Atwood, Pawnee Pass, Willard, Stoneham and Twin
Buttes.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of
small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland along creeks, and
other low lying areas.
