...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 AM MDT THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Colorado, including the following
counties, Logan, Morgan and Weld.
* WHEN...Until 630 AM MDT Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1230 AM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms that occurred
Friday evening. This will cause small stream flooding.
Between 0.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Beall Creek, Baymer Creek, George Creek, East Lewis Creek,
Pawnee Inlet Number 1, Pawnee Creek, Sand Creek, Brush Creek,
Darby Creek, West Fork Cottonwood Creek, Springdale Creek,
Spring Creek, Cottonwood Creek and South Pawnee Creek.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Sterling, Crook, North Sterling Reservoir, Padroni, Logan
Corners, Atwood, Pawnee Pass, Willard, Stoneham and Twin
Buttes.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of
small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland along creeks, and
other low lying areas.
