Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program

WARM TODAY WITH A CHANCE OF AN ISOLATED HIGH BASED SHOWER/THUNDERSTORM THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING
-Similar conditions as yesterday with high temperatures reaching the upper 80's to low 90's across the District today with a slight chance for isolated high-based rain showers/isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
-High-based thunderstorms will first develop over the foothills and Palmer Divide between 11am-1pm. After 1pm thunderstorms will be possible over the plains with best chances for thunderstorm activity through 8 or 9pm this evening.
-Surface moisture will be relatively dry through the early afternoon with dew points in the mid to upper 30's. With upper 80's to low 90's this will result high-based thunderstorms with gusty winds likely along with light to isolated moderate pockets of brief rain showers. Storm motions will be relatively fast from W to E between 10-20mph, which will limit point rainfall amounts across the District.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Weak thunderstorms will produce a trace to 0.1" in 10-30 minutes. A Moderate thunderstorm will have the potential to produce 0.1-0.2" in 10-30 minutes

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A strong thunderstorm or a slower moving thunderstorm will have the potential to produce 0.2-0.5" in 10-30 minutes and up to 1.0" in 60 minutes or less.

A LOOK AHEAD: Unseasonably warm temperatures will remain in place through the weekend with high temperatures reaching the upper 80's to low 90's. Rain chance will pick up Friday and Saturday although the threat for heavy rain will remain minimal. Dry conditions finally on the horizon starting Sunday! A cold front will move in overnight Sunday bring next weeks temperatures back into the 70's and low 80's to start the week.
