Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program

HOT WITH ISOLATED HIGH-BASED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS
-SW flow aloft will continue to usher in warmer air over the District today with highs topping out in the low to mid 90's over the plains with 80's in the Front Range foothills.
-There is enough moisture trapped in the SW flow aloft to produce isolated thunderstorm activity this afternoon but the air at the surface is dry with dew points in the 30's resulting in the storms that develop being high-based, producing gusty winds and minimal rain. Wind gusts near active thunderstorms may reach or exceed 50mph.
-By around sunset any thunderstorm activity will diminish with dry conditions for the remainder of the evening and overnight period.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: High based showers and weak thunderstorms will produce a trace to 0.1" of rain. A stronger thunderstorm will have the potential to produce up to 0.2" in 10-30 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: Remaining hot over the District on Monday with temperatures warming well into the 90's over the plains. Conditions at this time look dry area wide.
