Flash Flood Prediction Program

COOLER AND CLOUDY TODAY WITH A CHANCE FOR RAIN/ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS
-Cooler and cloudy today as high temperatures only reach the upper 50's to low 60's across the District. A disturbance will move through the District today resulting in a good chance for rain showers with isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and early evening.
-Cloud cover this morning will limit heavy rainfall although an isolated thunderstorm could have the potential for moderate to brief heavy rain this afternoon. Best chance for rain showers will be from 10am through 9pm with the best chance for isolated thunderstorms between 1-8pm.
-Skies will slowly begin to clear through the overnight and into Tuesday as temperatures reach the low to mid 40's into Tuesday morning.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Rain showers and weak thunderstorms will produce a trace to 0.3" in 10-30 minutes. Moderate thunderstorms will have the potential to produce 0.30-0.50" in 10-30 minutes

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A slow moving moderate thunderstorm or training of thunderstorm cells may result in up to 1.0" of rain in 30-60 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: A small area of high-pressure begins to build Tuesday bringing high temperatures back into the mid 70's. A very slight chance for a scattered rain shower/isolated thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon with little to no flood chances. Warmer Wednesday as high temperatures reach the upper 70's, along with dry conditions expected throughout the day. A mild start Thursday before high-pressure starts to break down resulting in a more active weather pattern for the end of the week.
