MESSAGE 1'S ISSUED FOR PORTIONS OF THE DISTRICT
-Message 1's have been issued for Adams, Arapahoe, Denver/DIA, Douglas and Jefferson Counties and will be valid until 10pm this evening. Currently Boulder and Broomfield are not included in the Message 1's, but may be need to be added at a later time.
-Moderate to strong thunderstorms are currently developing over the District and will have the potential for moderate to heavy rainfall, large hail and gusty winds. Heavy rainfall is expected to be brief resulting in minor runoff issues most areas but a large thunderstorm or a slower moving thunderstorm will have the potential for extended periods of heavy rain that may produce excessive runoff and flash flooding. Favored areas for heavy rainfall is I-70 southward.
-Thunderstorms will move from NW to SE at 15-20mph. Strong thunderstorm cells may move more slowly or erratically at times.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Moderate to strong thunderstorms will have the potential to produce 0.4-1.0" in 10-30 minutes. A stationary or large thunderstorm complex may result in up to 2.0" of rain in 60 minutes or less.
