- | Strong southwest flow aloft will be in place today ahead of a powerful trough of low pressure over the Northwest U.S. As a result, dry conditions along with strong winds and very warm temperatures can be expected across the District. |
- | Highs today will peak in the mid to upper 80s on the plains, which is well above average for this time of year. Lows tonight will fall into the low to mid 50s on the plains. |
- | Winds will be very strong across the District today from the SW at 15-25mph with gusts to 40mph on the plains, and up to 50mph on the Palmer Divide. The strong winds and low relative humidity values will result in elevated fire danger. |
A LOOK AHEAD: Monday will be mostly sunny and dry again, with cooler but still above average temperatures. A stronger cold front will arrive Monday night, leading to much cooler temperatures across the District on Tuesday and Wednesday with isolated light rain showers possible both days.
