Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program

COOL TODAY WITH RAIN/ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS TODAY THROUGH THIS EVENING
-A low-pressure system is slowly moving across northeastern Colorado today resulting in a good chance for rain and thunderstorms this afternoon and into this evening with a very low chance anything becomes severe in the District.
-Cool temperatures today in the upper 40s to low 50s will limit convection resulting in off and on showers by midday, with a better chance for widespread rain this evening with rain tapering off by midnight.
-Storms will be relatively slow moving from W/NW to E/SE at 10-20mph which could bring brief localized heavy rain to some areas. One to three rounds of storms are likely through the evening with the best chance for heavy rain favoring areas in the eastern portion of the District.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Typical rain showers and weak to moderate thunderstorms will produce a 0.05-0.3". Strong thunderstorms will have the potential to produce 0.3-0.6" in 10-30 minutes.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A slower moving strong thunderstorm or training of strong thunderstorm cells may result in up to 1.8" in 60-90 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: An active pattern will be in place through the rest of the weak allowing for a chance of rain showers/isolated thunderstorm activity in the afternoon and early evening. Temperatures will start to warm over the next few days into the mid to upper 60's, with upper 70's to nearly 80 degree temperatures for the weekend.
