Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program

COLD WITH LIGHT SNOW THIS MORNING TAPERING OFF TO SNOW AND RAIN SHOWERS THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT
-A trough of low pressure remains over Rockies/Plains today with low level upslope flow leading to a widespread light snowfall this morning. Snow will gradually taper off by midday, giving way to more spotty snow and rain showers this afternoon.
-Temperatures will remain well below average today with highs only in the upper 30s to low 40s on the plains under cloudy skies.
-A secondary disturbance will move into SE Colorado this evening, which could result in some additional light rain/snow showers over the District, but any light snow accumulations will be confined to the higher terrain.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Precipitation rates will generally be less than 0.1"/hour today and tonight.

A LOOK AHEAD: A gradual trend to warmer and drying conditions will ensue on Friday and Saturday with highs in the 50s/60s plains, but some isolated light rain showers can't be ruled out either day, mainly over the foothills. Further drying is expected Sunday and Monday as high pressure builds over the area with highs reaching the 70s on the plains.
