COOL AND UNSETTLED WITH AFTERNOON SHOWERS
-Unseasonably-cool and unsettled weather continues Thursday, as a trough of low pressure lifts across the Rocky Mountains. Cloud cover will hold daytime temperatures to around 50 today, with breezy SE winds at times.
-Low clouds and drizzle this morning will give way to a good chance for showers during the afternoon hours. The atmosphere is too stable over the District for thunderstorms to develop today.
-A wave of showers will move off the mountains and foothills early this afternoon, lifting NE across the District through early evening. Drier air arriving from the SW will shut down any remaining shower activity after sunset.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Rain showers will produce rainfall amounts of Trace-0.15" in 10-30 minutes.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A slow-moving area of stronger showers produces rainfall up to 0.40" in 60-90 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: Dry conditions return Friday as a weak ridge of high pressure builds into the region. Afternoon temperatures will remain below seasonal averages, topping out in the upper 60s to around 70, with plenty of sunshine expected.
