COOL TODAY WITH A CHANCE FOR SCATTERED RAIN/ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH EVENING
-Cool this morning as a cold front moved into the region overnight with cooler daytime highs in the upper 70's to around 80 on the plains with low to mid 70's along the foothills.
-Clouds will increase this afternoon bringing a chance for scattered rain showers with a slight chance for an isolated thunderstorms although cooler daytime temperatures could limit convection this afternoon. A second surge of moisture will move in this evening resulting in a chance for widespread rain showers through midnight before skies gradually clear through the overnight. Typical rain showers will be between a TR-0.20" with isolated higher amounts possible if a stronger cell is able to develop favoring southern portions of the District and the foothills.
-Overnight lows will drop into the low 50's across the plains with low to mid 40's along the foothills.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Rain showers and/or a weak thunderstorms will produce a trace to 0.1". An isolated moderate thunderstorms will have the potential to produce 0.1-0.3" in 10-30 mintues. Supplemental QPF is available at https://qpf.udfcd.org

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A moderate, slower moving thunderstorm formed off an outflow boundary may produce rainfall amounts of up to 0.5" in 45-60 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: Drier air moves into the region Tuesday likely resulting in dry conditions through the week. High temperatures will remain seasonable in the upper 70's to mid 80's through the rest of the week as well.
