HOT WITH ISOLATED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS FAVORING SOUTHERN AREAS
-Temperatures will be at or slightly above normal over the District today with highs in the lower 90's over the plains.
-Thunderstorm chances will be minimal north of I-70 today but there is a modest chance for isolated thunderstorms southern areas of the District. Storms that develop today will generally produce gusty winds and light to moderate rain but a stronger storm may be capable of producing brief heavy rainfall.
-Thunderstorms will move from WNW to ESE at around 20mph. Best chances for thunderstorm activity will be from 2-8pm. After sunset any thunderstorm activity will diminish with dry conditions overnight.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Weak to moderate thunderstorms will produce a trace to 0.20". An isolated strong thunderstorm may produce 0.2-0.7" in 10-30 minutes.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: Thunderstorm activity from storms to the S produces a gust front that pushes northward initiating slower moving thunderstorms in areas that are not expected to see storms today with the potential to produce brief heavy rainfall of 0.3-0.9" in 10-30 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: Temperatures continue to warm on Tuesday with highs in the mid to upper 90's over the plains. There will be a better chance for isolated afternoon thunderstorms District wide but storms are expected to produce gusty winds and light to moderate rain.
