Today will be mostly sunny with afternoon temperatures in the mid 80s, dew points in the low 50s, and a chance for isolated showers and thunderstorms. Like yesterday, the best time for storms today will be during the late afternoon hours with storms moving from the northwest to southeast between 25 and 35 MPH, which will help limit point rainfall amounts. However, a gust front from a stronger storm could potentially cause slow storm movement, leading to isolated brief heavy rainfall. Thunderstorm activity is expected to subside across the Front Range Urban Corridor by mid-evening. Skies will clear overnight with lows falling into the low 60s. |
WORST CASE SCENARIO: Anchored thunderstorms have the potential to produce 0.75” to 1.50” in 60 minutes.
A LOOK AHEAD: Warmer and drier weather will build into the region beginning Sunday as a strong heat wave expands across the intermountain west. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to low 90s under clear and sunny skies. Heat will intensify Monday with temperatures about 10 degrees above normal. Very dry conditions will be more widespread as afternoon temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 100°F on the plains.
