Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program

REMAINING HOT AND GENERALLY DRY WITH POSSIBLY AN ISOLATED HIGH-BASED THUNDERSTORM
-Similar conditions as yesterday with continued hazy skies due to multiple wildfires currently burning in the high country. Temperatures today will continue to be above average with highs in the low to mid 90's across the plains with mid to upper 80's along the foothills.
-A very slight chance this afternoon for scattered rain showers/isolated thunderstorms, favoring areas east and south of the District, although a stray rain shower/isolated thunderstorm cannot be completely ruled out along the I-25 corridor this afternoon/early evening. Any storms that are able to develop will remain high-based resulting in a better chance fore gusty winds as precipitation will struggle to reach the ground today.
-Skies will gradually clear through the overnight as low temperatures drop into the 60's.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Very isolated rain showers and weak thunderstorms will have the potential to produce a trace to 0.1" of rain, favoring areas to the E and S of the District. Supplemental QPF is available at https://qpf.udfcd.org

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A moderate thunderstorm will have the potential to produce 0.1-0.3" of rain in 10-30 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: High-pressure will continue to churn towards the west this week resulting in high temperatures to remain above average in the 90's. A very slight chance for afternoon rain showers/isolated thunderstorms will continue through the week with chances increasing Thursday and Friday.
