Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program

SEASONAL WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR A STRAY SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM
-Colorado sits underneath NW flow aloft on Tuesday, as a strong ridge of high pressure builds over the Pacific Northwest. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the low 80s today, with plenty of sunshine expected this morning.
-A weak cold front slips out of Wyoming early this afternoon, with NNE winds becoming breezy along the Front Range. The front combined with the close proximity of the upper-level jet could trigger a few isolated showers and thunderstorms across the area this afternoon and evening.
-Storm coverage will be greatest N and E of the District, where it will still be isolated at best. Still, the chance exists for a weak shower or storm to drift over the District. Today's showers and storms will track briskly to the SE at around 25mph, with the best chance for precipitation occurring between about 4pm-8pm.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Isolated showers and thunderstorms will produce rainfall amounts between Trace-0.10" in 10-30 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: Wednesday’s temperatures will be cooler behind the front, topping out in the low to mid 70s under partly-cloudy skies. The atmosphere over the plains remains generally stable, but we’ll still have a chance for an isolated weak shower or storm.
