Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program

COOLER TODAY WITH A CHANCE FOR RAIN/THUNDERSTORM THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING
-A cold front moved in this morning resulting in cooler temperatures today as highs only reach the upper 70's to around 80 on the plains with low to mid 70's along the foothills. Dew points will remain in the upper 40's to around 50 today, combined with decent upper-level moisture will bring rain showers and thunderstorms across the District this afternoon and evening.
-With relatively weak diurnal heating today storm potential could be limited, although with other ingredients in place today the threat for isolated heavy rainfall cannot be ruled out as storms move off the foothills and Palmer Divide between 12-2pm. Best chance for rainfall across the District will be between 1-9pm with lingering light showers possible until the later evening.
-Storm motions will be from W/SW to E/NE between 10-20mph which will help limit point rainfall amounts, although a slower moving storm, or stationary storm that forms off an outflow boundary could have the potential for heavy rainfall.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Typical rain showers/thunderstorms will produce a TR-0.2" in 10-30 minutes. A moderate to strong thunderstorm will produce 0.2-0.5" in 10-30 minutes.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A slow moving/stationary strong thunderstorm could produce up to 1.0" in 30-45 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: A continued chance for rain showers/thunderstorms through the week as temperatures bounce back into the mid to upper 80's Wednesday. Even warmer temperatures Thursday and Friday in the low to mid 90's with afternoon rain showers/isolated thunderstorms possible.
