- | The District remains on the back edge of a strong and unseasonably cold low pressure system, with additional periods of snow this morning decreasing in coverage this afternoon. |
- | Highs today will only reach the upper 30s to low 40s on the plains, but any snow showers that linger into the afternoon will mix with rain below 6,000'. Precipitation rates today will be lighter than what we experienced yesterday. |
- | Any lingering rain/snow showers will taper off this evening with dry conditions expected after midnight. Skies will remain partly/mostly cloudy tonight, but if more clearing occurs than expected then some areas could see a hard freeze. |
A LOOK AHEAD: A weaker disturbance will pass to the north of the District on Wednesday and Thursday with isolated showers/thunderstorms favoring the higher terrain Wednesday afternoon. A better chance of showers will then arrive Wednesday night and Thursday, but coverage looks to remain spotty and rainfall amounts will be light. Temperatures will be warmer than the previous two days but will remain well below seasonal averages. Warmer and drier weather will finally arrive on Friday.
