Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program

HOT AND GENERALLY DRY THROUGH THE AFTERNOON WITH POSSIBLY AN ISOLATED LATE EVENING THUNDERSTORM
-Temperatures will remain hot today with highs reaching the low to mid 90's over the plains with 80's in the Front Range foothills. Normal high for Denver today is 89 degrees.
-Conditions are expected to be generally dry but an outflow boundary from storms over NE Colorado pushed eastward last evening and there is just enough remaining moisture in tandem with daytime heating to produce a few isolated high-based thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening. Best chances for storms today will be N and E of the District boundaries.
-Storms that do manage to develop will mainly produce gusty winds and light rain or sprinkles. The N and E portions of the District have the best chances of experiencing a storm with S and W areas likely remaining completely dry. There is some hint that another outflow boundary from storms over NE CO will move through late this evening and could produce a few additional storms until midnight or slightly after with a better chance for measurable rain. We will have to see how this plays out and an evening update may be needed.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: High-based showers and weak thunderstorms will produce a trace to 0.10".

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A gust front from storms over NE CO pushes back into the District increasing surface moisture and providing a trigger for stronger thunderstorms with the potential to produce 0.1-0.4" of rain in 10-30 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: Hot and dry on Saturday with temperatures reaching or exceeding 100 degrees over the plains in many areas. No precipitation is expected.
