SEASONAL WITH WIDELY-SCATTERED SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS
-Observations Friday morning show plenty of cloud cover along the Front Range, ahead of an upper-level trough currently tracking through the Northern Rockies. Afternoon highs will be slightly cooler today, topping out in the mid to upper 80s under partly-cloudy skies.
-The passing trough to our N will help focus shower and thunderstorm activity this afternoon and evening. Storms are expected to fire early this afternoon over the mountains and foothills, and strengthen as they propagate E onto the plains and encounter better surface moisture and instability.
-Most storms over the District today should remain high-based, and only produce light to briefly-moderate rainfall totals and gusty winds. Although unlikely, the slight chance exists for a stronger storm to produce locally-heavy rainfall, given the elevated moisture levels and convective energy lurking to our E.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Showers and thunderstorms today will track to the ENE at around 12-18mph, and produce rainfall amounts between Trace-0.20" in 10-30 minutes. The prime period for a storm over the District is between about 2:00pm-6:00pm.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: Moist outflow from adjacent storm activity pushes into the District, allowing a strong to severe thunderstorm to produce rainfall up to 1.50" in 60-90 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: Much drier air arrives this weekend under flat northwesterly flow aloft, giving us a break from diurnal shower and thunderstorm activity. Afternoon temperatures climb back into the low to mid 90s Saturday, with mid to upper 90s possible on Sunday.
