Flash Flood Prediction Program

-	Temperatures will warm to near normal today with highs over the plains in the upper 60's to lower 70's. Normal high for Denver today is 71 degrees. Modest surface moisture and a passing upper level disturbance will result in scattered afternoon and early evening thunderstorms, some of which may become strong to severe with the potential for brief heavy rainfall, large hail and gusty winds.
-	Thunderstorms will begin to develop over the foothills before noon and then move onto the plains during the early afternoon. Storms will move from W to E at 20-25mph with stronger thunderstorms potentially moving more erratically. The relatively fast storm motion will help to keep the heavy rain brief, but excessive runoff may occur under stronger thunderstorm cells.
-	After 8 or 9pm the thunderstorm activity is expected to have pushed eastward with lingering, isolated light rain showers possible until about midnight.

STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Typical weak to moderate thunderstorms will produce 0.1-0.4" of rainfall. Strong thunderstorms will have the potential to produce 0.4-1.2" in 10-30 minutes.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A slow moving strong thunderstorm or training of thunderstorm cells may produce up to 2" of rain in 60 minutes or less.

A LOOK AHEAD: Conditions begin to dry out a bit on Saturday but there will still be isolated afternoon thunderstorms, favoring the foothills and Palmer Divide. Temperatures on Saturday will warm a few degrees with most areas on the plains reaching the lower 70's.
