Flash Flood Prediction Program

REMAINING UNSEASONABLY WARM WITH ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS
-Temperatures will continue to run above seasonal averages today with highs on the plains topping out in the low to mid 90's. Normal high for Denver today is 90 degrees.
-Monsoon moisture is on the increase over western Colorado today and may begin to intrude over the NE plains late this afternoon. For the most part thunderstorm activity is expected to be isolated over the lower elevations with widely scattered storms over the foothills.
-Typical thunderstorms today will be much like yesterday with light to briefly moderate rainfall and gusty winds. If enough monsoon moisture works its way into NE Colorado this afternoon some storms could become strong with the potential for brief heavy rain. Storms will generally move from W to E at around 15mph. Best chances for thunderstorms today will be from 2-10pm.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Weak to moderate thunderstorms will produce a trace to 0.2". Stronger thunderstorms will have the potential to produce 0.2-0.6" in 10-30 minutes.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: If upper level moisture increases further than expected strong thunderstorms may develop with the potential to produce heavy rainfall of up to 1.5" in 45-90 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: Widespread to numerous thunderstorms are expected on Thursday as abundant mid and upper level monsoon moisture moves overhead. Thunderstorms will produce heavy rainfall and possibly severe weather. Temperatures will be cooler with highs in the mid to upper 80's over the plains.
