Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program

HOT TODAY WITH A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR AN ISOLATED HIGH-BASED THUNDERSTORM THIS AFTERNOON
-High-pressure will build over the region through the week resulting in hot temperatures with highs today in the low to mid 90's. Mostly sunny skies this morning with a slight chance for high-based afternoon and early evening rain showers and isolated thunderstorms.
-Showers and thunderstorms will begin to form along the foothills between 11-1pm and will move across the plains between 1-4pm with a chance for scattered lingering rain showers until 6-7pm before skies clear into the evening. Storm motion today will be from west to east between 10-15mph. The largest threat today will be gusty winds and lightning with wind gusts up to 50mph under dissipating cells. Rainfall will struggle to reach the ground today, although 0.10-0.20" in 10-30 minutes cannot be completely ruled out if a moderate thunderstorm is able to develop.
-Overnight lows will drop into the low to mid 60's into Tuesday. Similar conditions tomorrow with slightly warmer high temperatures in the mid to upper 90's with a chance fore afternoon rain showers/isolated thunderstorms.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Weak showers/thunderstorms will produce a trace to 0.10" in 10-30 minutes. A moderate thunderstorm will produce 0.10-0.20" in 10-30 minutes.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A moderate to strong stationary thunderstorm that forms off an outflow boundary could produce 0.20-0.50" in 10-30 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: High-pressure will continue to build bringing even warmer temperatures later this week where we could possibly see our first 100 degree day Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. After Tuesday, conditions will start to dry out over the region with minimal storm chances into the weekend.
