COOLER WITH ISOLATED AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS/ADDITIONAL SHOWERS POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT
-A cold front has moved through this morning which will cool temperatures to near normal for this time of year. Highs this afternoon will reach the low to mid 70's over the plains.
-Moisture is limited behind the front but does increase a bit and in tandem with a passing upper level disturbance there will be a threat for isolated showers and thunderstorms between 2-9pm. Beyond 9pm into the early AM hours on Saturday a few rain showers will continue possible with dry conditions by daybreak Saturday. Rainfall amounts today and tonight look minor with best chances for wetting rains outside the District over northern Colorado.
-Showers and thunderstorms that develop today will be relatively fast moving from W to E at 20-30mph.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Rain showers and weak thunderstorms will produce a trace to 0.2" in 10-30 minutes.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: An unexpected moderate to briefly strong thunderstorm may produce up to 0.4" in 10-30 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: Dry by daybreak Saturday but some cloud cover may linger through the morning with skies becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. Temperatures will warm a bit with highs in the mid 70's to around 80 over the plains. Winds will become breezy at times from the S at 10-20mph and gusts to 25mph or more possible.
