Flash Flood Prediction Program

WARMING BACK INTO THE 90'S WITH SCATTERED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS
-After a couple relatively cool days temperatures will warm back into the low and mid 90's over the plains this afternoon. Surface moisture remains modest and with more daytime heating today versus yesterday in tandem with subtropical moisture in the mid and upper levels, thunderstorms will develop between noon and 1pm.

Storm motions are expected to be WNW to ESE or W to E at around 15mph. Strong thunderstorms may move more slowly.
-Strong thunderstorms may also contain frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, hail and gusty winds. Conditions look to be drying out between 7-8pm as the thunderstorm activity pushes E of the District in the evening.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Typical weak to moderate thunderstorms will produce 0.1-0.3" of rain. Strong thunderstorms will have the potential to produce 0.3-0.9" in 10-30 minutes. Supplemental QPF is available at https://qpf.udfcd.org

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A large, slower moving strong thunderstorm may produce up to 1.8" of rain in 45-60 minutes.

A LOOK AHEAD: Thunderstorm chances decrease a bit on Friday and further on Saturday with widely scattered storms Friday and isolated activity on Saturday.
