As the upper-level disturbance conditions continue to shift east, the remnants of a tropical system will expand across the state. This wave of moisture will support cooler temperatures and rainy conditions through the weekend. Isolated storm activity is possible across the Plains today with afternoon temperatures in the mid 70s, dew points in the upper 40s to around 50°F. Downsloping winds will help limit storm development on the plains. Storms will travel from west to east around 20-25 mph. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to dissipate this evening. |
WORST CASE SCENARIO: Strong thunderstorms have the potential to produce 0.50” to 0.75” total in 30-60 minutes.
A LOOK AHEAD: Another wave of afternoon thunderstorms is possible tomorrow as temperatures warm into the low to mid 80s. There is still some uncertainty about details and timing through the weekend, which will depend on the track of this system. We will continue to monitor conditions as they develop over the coming days.
