- | Abundant moisture remains in place at both the surface and aloft today but cloud cover and cooler temperatures likely limit the strength of thunderstorms with precipitation potentially favoring rain showers. Highs today only expected to reach the upper 70's to lower 80's over the plains with 60's and 70's in the Front Range foothills. |
- | Conditions look to be generally dry this morning with rain showers and possibly a weak to moderate thunderstorm becoming more likely between 1-2pm over the lower elevations. A round or two of showers and weak to possibly moderate thunderstorms is then expected through the afternoon. Upper level steering winds have weakened, but storms will still move fast enough from SW to NE at 15-20mph to help keep any heavy rainfall relatively brief in nature. |
- | Best chances for thunderstorms today will be over the foothills and Palmer Divide. After sunset conditions look to be drying out with a few lingering rain showers possible overnight. |
WORST CASE SCENARIO: A strong thunderstorm, if able to develop will have the potential to produce 0.5-1.5" of heavy rain in 10-30 minutes and up to 2.5" in 45-60 minutes.
A LOOK AHEAD: Temperatures remain cool on Monday likely limiting the strength of thunderstorms once again. There will still be a threat for afternoon and evening thunderstorms but the threat for heavy rainfall look to be relatively low. An upper level disturbance passing through on Tuesday will result in scattered to numerous thunderstorms with a high threat for heavy rainfall that could lead to excessive runoff and possibly flash flooding.
