Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program

SCATTERED "GUSTY" AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE
-Temperatures will continue above normal today with highs reaching the upper 80's to lower 90's over the plains. Moisture continues to increase from the S and in tandem with a passing upper level disturbance scattered thunderstorms will develop early this afternoon and continue likely into the evening.
-Thunderstorms will develop over the foothills by noon or before and then move onto the plains by 1 or 2pm. A couple rounds of storms are expected into the evening with some showers possible in between. Typical storms will produce gusty winds and light to moderate rain. Strong thunderstorms will have the potential to produce moderate to brief heavy rainfall, damaging winds (>60mph) and hail.
-Storm motions will be from SW to NE at 10-15mph. Due to relatively slow storm motions the stronger storms today will be capable of producing excessive runoff. After 9 or 10pm this evening the thunderstorm activity is expected to have exited the District with dry conditions later evening and overnight.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Typical weak to moderate thunderstorms will produce 0.1-0.3" of rain. Strong thunderstorms will have the potential to produce 0.3-0.8" of rain in 10-30 minutes.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: A nearly stationary strong thunderstorm may produce up to 1.6" of rain in 60 minutes or less.

A LOOK AHEAD: Temperatures will continue to run around the 90 degree mark for highs on Sunday over the plains. Thunderstorm activity will be pushed southward likely leaving the District dry with possibly a storm or two over S Douglas/Jefferson Counties.
