Time: 909 PM Wed June 21, 2023 Forecaster: Brad Simmons ------------------------- MESSAGE 1 Flash Flood Prediction Program ------------------------- **** LOW IMPACT FLOODING **** PRIORITY DISSEMINATION RECOMMENDED We have determined that low impact flooding is likely in ARAPAHOE COUNTY including: THE CITY OF AURORA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ from: Current to 1159 PM . Prime time for flooding: Current to 1130 PM . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Forecast rainfall: Moderate to strong thunderstorms will have the potential to produce rainfall rates of 0.5-1.5" in 10-30 minutes. Higher amounts are possible should a storm linger for more than a 30 minute time frame with up to 2.5" in 45-75 minutes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The most likely areas to be impacted by flooding are: X Urban streams/gulches; road crossings; recreational trails; adjacent open space areas/campgrounds/parks; floodplain properties; utilities X Urban streets, intersections, low lying areas, known trouble spots ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Additional Information: Excessive runoff is imminent or already occurring in Arapahoe County and the City of Aurora. Storm is currently tracking along the Adams/Arapahoe County line. Strong thunderstorms may also contain large hail, gusty winds, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.
