Flash Flood Prediction Program

FLOOD WATCH
The National Weather Service has issued a FLOOD WATCH for: the
following counties: BOULDER (CITY OF BOULDER NOT AFFECTED), JEFFERSON,
BROOMFIELD, DOUGLAS, ADAMS, DENVER, ARAPAHOE
including: DIA, THE CITY OF AURORA

from: 200 PM
to 900 PM
. The National Weather Service in Boulder has issued a Flood Watch for
most of the District which includes the threat of Flash Flooding from
2:00 PM today until
9:00 PM tonight.
Prime time for flooding: 200 PM
to 900 PM
.

Forecast rainfall: Weak to moderate thunderstorms will produce
rainfall rates of 0.3-0.8” total in 10-30 minutes. Strong to severe
thunderstorms will have the potential to produce rainfall rates of
0.8-1.5” total of rain in 10-30 minutes. A slow-moving strong
thunderstorm or a large thunderstorm complex may result in up to
3.0” of rain in 60-90 minutes.

Additional information: Heavy rainfall may result in excessive runoff
and possibly flash flooding over the District this afternoon into the
late evening. Strong to severe thunderstorms may also contain large
hail, gusty winds, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.
This Flood Watch does NOT include City of Boulder, western Broomfield
of the Jefferson County suburbs; however, will be followed up with a
Message 1 to include those areas for the potential for heavy rain this
afternoon and evening.
A Flood Watch means that flooding is possible within the watch area.
This message is not intended for public dissemination. Please pass
this information along to affected emergency response organizations
(police, fire, public works, etc.) within your area.
Also, please take appropriate actions to prepare for possible
flooding.
