The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Eastern Phillips County in northeastern Colorado...
* Until 1045 PM MDT.
* At 743 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain
have fallen with locally higher amounts. Flash flooding is ongoing
in Holyoke with Main Street flooded. Flooding is likely far worse
southeast of Holyoke where the heaviest rain has fallen.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
roads, and low lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Holyoke, Amherst and Pleasant Valley.
Additional storms continue to move north northeast into the warned
area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. do not drive through flooded areas
especially at night since it is difficult to determine flood depths.
Excessive runoff from this storm will cause flash flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland along creeks, and other
low lying areas.
