...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of northeastern Elbert,
eastern Arapahoe, southwestern Washington and north central Lincoln
Counties through 1045 PM MDT...
At 1000 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles south of Byers, or 36 miles northwest of Limon, moving
southeast at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Deer Trail, Agate, Cottonwood Valley and Byers.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Prepare for sudden gusty winds. Secure loose objects and move to a
safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

...Hot and dry conditions combined with winds gusting over 30 mph
are expected across portions of northeast Colorado.
.Temperature near and exceeding 100 degrees will combine with
winds 15-25 mph gusting to 35 mph during the afternoon hours.
Relative humidity is expected to drop to near 10 percent as well.
Fuels are drying out with every passing day, and are probably not
far from being critical especially if no precipitation occurs in
the next several days.

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 9 PM MDT FRIDAY...
* WHAT...High temperatures of 95 to 102F Friday afternoon.
* WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Colorado.
* WHEN...From 10 AM to 9 PM MDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and poor air quality may cause heat
illnesses to occur.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures will warm to above 90 degrees
by the late morning hours and will remain above 90 into the
evening. Wildfire smoke is also expected to cause poor air
quality in addition to the heat.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
