The National Weather Service in Denver Colorado has extended the
* Flood Warning for...
Rain and Snowmelt in...
Central Jackson County in north central Colorado...
* Until 1245 PM MDT Monday.
* The Jackson County Sheriff reported that high water levels
remained over much of the lower elevations of Jackson county, due
to excessive rainfall and snowmelt. Several rural roads have been
washed out or have water running over them. Many culverts could
not handle the amount of running water, and in some cases, a few
structures were threatened by high water. Water levels were
beginning to recede in most areas and will continue to slowly drop
through Monday.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
low lying areas near streams around Walden, Lake John, Brownlee,
Coalmont, Cowdrey and Rand.
* Some streams and rivers that may experience flooding include...
Michigan River, Canadian River, Illinois River, Grizzly Creek,
North Platte River, and Lake Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall and snowmelt will cause
flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, grassland, and
other low lying spots. Water levels were beginning to recede in most
areas, but caution should still be exercised if traveling through
Jackson county.

North Platte River near Northgate affecting Jackson County.
.The North Platte River at Northgate has exceeded flood stage at 8.0 feet, and
should remain above flood stage into Monday.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Do not drive or walk into water of unknown depth. The roadway or
pathway may be washed out and water could be much deeper than you
think. Keep children and others away from fast flowing water and
storm drains which could become deadly during high water.

the North Platte River near Northgate.
* until Monday afternoon.
* At 5:45 AM Sunday the stage was 8.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 8.2 feet by this
afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage early Monday
morning.
* Impact...At 8.0 feet...Pasture and ranch lands flood along the
river.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest of 7.9 feet
on May 26 2014.

Northeastern Jackson County in north central Colorado...

* Rainfall and snowmelt has produced rises on some streams and small
rivers in Jackson county. The flows were highest on the Michigan
River and North Platte River from north of Gould through the
Walden area, and then northward to the Wyoming border. Minor
flooding can be expected, impacting low lying areas and grassland
near the banks of these streams and small rivers.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
rural areas around Walden, Cowdrey and Brownlee.

...MOUNTAIN SNOW THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT ...
.A cold storm system is moving into the Central Rockies, and
will produce snow over the northern Colorado high country through
much of the weekend. The heaviest bands of snow is expected to
shift slowly east and southeast across the mountains this
afternoon through tonight. The heaviest snow is expected to fall
in elevations above 9000 feet over the northern border area, and
above 10,000 feet in the I-70 Corridor through Summit County. Snow
will fall down to the mountain valley floors at times.
Cold and snowy conditions are expected for the mountains through
the weekend. Plan accordingly if you are going to be spending time
in the Colorado high country.

feet tonight. The heaviest snow is expected above 10,000 feet MSL
where 4 to 10 inches of snow is expected. A light snow
