...MOUNTAIN SNOW EXPECTED TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT ...
.A cold storm system will move across the Central Rockies this
weekend. The snow level will fall to between 9,000 and 10,000
feet tonight. The heaviest snow is expected above 10,000 feet MSL
where 4 to 10 inches of snow is expected. A light snow
accumulation will be possible down to 9,000 feet. Cold and snowy
conditions are expected for the mountains through the weekend.
Plan accordingly if you are going to be spending time in the
mountains.

6 AM MDT SUNDAY...
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 10 inches
above 10,000 feet MSL. Light snow accumulations will be
possible down to 9,000 feet MSL
* WHERE...Rocky Mountain National Park, the Medicine Bow Range and
the Mountains of Summit County, the Mosquito Range, and the
Indian Peaks.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 AM MDT Sunday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High mountain roads may become slippery. If
venturing into the mountains this weekend be prepared for cold
temperatures and periods of rain and snow.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads

...Brief Landspout Tornado Sighted...
At 855 PM MDT, trained weather spotters reported a landspout tornado
at a few miles from Iliff from a storm currently near Crook, moving
east at 25 mph. Conditions continue to favor the potential for
landspouts as storms develop; however at this time it is unknown if
this storm would produce a landspout. Any landspouts which develop
are expected to pose a limited threat. This storm is also producing
cloud-to-ground lightning and pea size hail.
Locations impacted include...
Ovid, Sedgwick, Crook, Proctor, Marks Butte and Twin Buttes.
Landspout tornadoes can form with a developing thunderstorm before
rain, hail, and even thunder is observed. Landspout tornadoes are not
usually associated with a wall cloud and are often difficult to
detect with weather radar.

east of Pawnee Buttes, or along a line extending from 17 miles south

will be possible with these storms.
