...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.
* WHERE...A portion of north central Colorado, including the
following county, Larimer. This includes the central and western
portions of the Cameron Peak burn area.
* WHEN...Until 400 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 234 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Up to
0.3 inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Bennett Creek, Two and One Half Creek, Little Beaver Creek,
Joe Wright Creek, Sheep Creek, Cache La Poudre River, Laramie
River, Manhattan Creek, Elkhorn Creek, Dry Creek, Brinker
Creek, Roaring Creek, Peterson Creek, South Fork Cache La
Poudre River and South Lone Pine Creek.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Kinikinik and Rustic.
- This includes the following additional locations...
Gulches along Highway 14 near and above Rustic, Rising water
and large debris in the Poudre River, Pingree Hill, Goodell
Corner, Crown Point Road, The Upper Poudre Canyon, The
Laramie River Road near Chambers Lake and Remote areas in the
Cameron Peak Wilderness.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Heavy Rainfall will cause minor flooding of creeks and streams,
roads and roadside culverts in the affected part of the Cameron Peak
burn area. The heavy rains could also trigger rock slides or debris
flows.
