...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 330 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.
* WHERE...A portion of north central Colorado, including the
following county, Larimer.
* WHEN...Until 330 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 155 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause
small stream flooding. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have
fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
East Fork Fish Creek, Big Thompson River, West Fork Little
Thompson River, Solitude Creek, Cedar Creek, Dry Creek, Fish
Creek, North Fork Little Thompson River, Little Thompson
River and Cottonwood Creek.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Carter Lake.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of
creeks and streams, roads and roadside culverts. The heavy rains
could also trigger rock slides or debris flows in steep terrain.
