The National Weather Service in Denver Colorado has extended the
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southeastern Elbert County in east central Colorado...
Central Lincoln County in east central Colorado...
* Until midnight MDT.
* At 935 PM MDT, local law enforcement reported ongoing flooding
across the warned area. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain fell over
southeast Elbert and west-central Lincoln Counties earlier this
evening. Flash flooding continues on Highway 71 and other
county roads late this evening.
* Flash flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern
Elbert and central Lincoln Counties.
This includes the following streams and drainages...Long Creek...Big
Sandy Creek...Antelope Creek...North Rush Creek...Lone Tree Creek...
Rush Creek...Middle Rush Creek...Mustang Creek...Apache Creek and
South Rush Creek.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Roads that have been closed may be washed out.
Do not drive around barricades or road closure signs to try and
cross water covered sections of road.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
