...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of central Larimer and
northeastern Grand Counties through 130 PM MDT...
At 104 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 6 miles southeast of Woods Landing-Jelm to 5
miles west of Longs Peak, or along a line extending from 27 miles
southwest of Laramie to 40 miles southwest of Fort Collins. Movement
was east at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Estes Park, Trail Ridge, Bear Lake, Pennock Pass, Glen Haven, Four
Corners, Red Feather Lakes, Rustic, Longs Peak, Chambers Lake,
Kinikinik and Pingree Park.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If on or near a lake, get out of the water and move indoors or
inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
these storms pass.
