* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Northwestern Jefferson County in central Colorado...
* Until 1030 PM MDT.
* At 907 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
* Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Golden, Evergreen, Idledale, Kittredge, Bergen Park, Indian Hills,
Genesee and Wah Keeney Park.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
Troublesome Creek, Beaver Brook, Bergen Creek, Clear Creek, Bear
Creek, Van Bibber Creek, Mount Vernon Creek and Tucker Gulch.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of
small creeks and streams, highways, streets, underpasses, drainage
areas and other low lying spots. It also could trigger rock slides
or debris flows in steep terrain.
