...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Colorado, including the following
county, Boulder.
* WHEN...Until 700 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 348 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Between
1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Boulder Creek, Dry Creek, Fourmile Creek, Saint Vrain Creek,
South Saint Vrain Creek, Little Thompson River, North Saint
Vrain Creek, Left Hand Creek, North Boulder Creek, Gold Run
and Little James Creek.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Northwestern Boulder, Lyons, Jamestown, Sunshine, Salina,
Crisman, Summerville, Wallstreet and Gold Hill.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of
creeks and streams, roads and roadside culverts. The heavy rains
could also trigger rock slides or debris flows in steep terrain.
