...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM MDT THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.
* WHERE...A portion of central Colorado, including the following
counties, Clear Creek and Park.
* WHEN...Until 1145 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 832 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Between
1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Tanglewood Creek, Bear Track Creek, Peru Creek, Lost Creek,
Snake River, South Clear Creek, Elk Creek, Lake Fork, Little
Bear Creek, Bear Creek, Beaver Creek, North Beaver Brook,
Scott Gomer Creek, Beaver Brook, Leavenworth Creek, Geneva
Creek, Beaverdam Creek, North Fork South Platte River, Clear
Creek, Indian Creek, South Chicago Creek, Vance Creek,
Chicago Creek, Soda Creek, Barbour Fork, Tumbling Creek and
Deer Creek.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Idaho Springs, Mt Evans, Echo Lake, Guanella Pass, Blue
Valley and Floyd Hill.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of
creeks and streams, roads and roadside culverts. The heavy rains
could also trigger rock slides or debris flows in steep terrain.
