...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1245 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.
* WHERE...A portion of north central Colorado, including the
following county, Larimer. This includes northern portions of the
High Park burn area.
* WHEN...Until 1245 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1121 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Between
1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Cache La Poudre River, Gordon Creek and North Fork Cache La
Poudre River.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Poudre Park and Mishawaka.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of creeks and streams,
roads and roadside culverts in the High Park burn area. Some areas
affected include Rist Canyon, Buckhorn Creek, Redstone Canyon, Stove
Prairie, and gulches draining into the Poudre Canyon along highway
14. The heavy rains could also trigger rock slides or debris flows.
