ALERT System alarms
by Kevin Stewart
Please ignore the questionable alarms from the ALERT streamgages that a few of you may be receiving. These notifications are being generated by our field maintenance crew from OneRain as they begin their pre-flood season startup activities and testing of the equipment.
This is certainly a good test of our communications system, which seems to be working flawlessly.
Enjoy the Spring-like weather today, that's about to change.

Flood Warning Hydrology 101
by Kevin Stewart
Here is the second installment of trainings being offered by the National Hydrologic Warning Council. This is a well-presented summary of what engineers and hydrologists contribute to the flood prediction business.
For technical people this is a good review of very basic hydrologic sciences and what to expect for the future practice of this art. For non-hydrologists, it provides a good general understanding of the challenges professionals face in forecasting flood impacts.
Your feedback is always welcome.
