...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Colorado, including the following
counties, Adams, Denver and Jefferson.
* WHEN...Until 530 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 330 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Up to 0.5 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Denver, western Aurora, Lakewood, southern Thornton,
southeastern Arvada, southern Westminster, western Commerce
City, northern Littleton, southern Northglenn, Brighton,
northern Englewood, Wheat Ridge, Golden, Federal Heights,
Sheridan, Morrison, Red Rocks Park, Indian Hills, Cherry
Hills Village and Edgewater.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause minor flooding of
small creeks and streams, highways, streets, underpasses, drainage
areas and other low lying spots.
