...SNOW AND WIND TO IMPACT TRAVEL IN THE MOUNTAINS FRIDAY...
.Moderate to heavy snow will push into the northern Colorado
mountains Friday morning, decreasing in intensity during the
afternoon. However winds will be increasing rapidly in the
afternoon with gusts up to 70 mph causing widespread blowing snow
and travel impacts.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 5 PM MST
FRIDAY...
* WHAT...Snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations
of 3 to 6 inches, except 5 to 10 inches north of Rabbit Ears
Pass. Winds gusting as high as 70 mph.
* WHERE...Rabbit Ears Pass, Rocky Mountain National Park and the
Medicine Bow Range and The Mountains of Summit County, and the
Indian Peaks.
* WHEN...From 6 AM to 5 PM MST Friday. Snow will be moderate to
heavy in the morning, especially near and north of Rabbit Ears
pass, with gusts to 45 mph. Then wind speeds will increase in
the afternoon to 40 to 55 mph sustained with gusts to up 70 mph.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing
snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
conditions will impact the morning commute when heavy snow will
be more of the issue, and the evening commute when wind and
blowing snow will be more the issue. Very strong winds could
cause extensive tree damage. The cold wind chills as low as 20
below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as
30 minutes.
