Heavy Precipitation Outlook
Flash Flood Prediction Program
-------------------------
WIDESPREAD PERSISTENT PRECIPITATION TODAY
Widespread persistent precipitation continues today and tonight as
easterly upslope moisture surges into the region. Temperatures today
will only reach the upper 30s to low 40s across the District,
inhibiting thunderstorm activity. Persistent rainfall throughout the
day today will result in elevated streams and creeks. Rain across
lower elevations will continue into the evening before decreasing in
intensity overnight. Areas above 6000 ft (foothills) can expect snow
throughout the day and tonight.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Non-thunderstorm rain showers
will have the potential produce rainfall rates up to 0.10"-0.50" total
in 30-60 minutes.
WORST CASE SCENARIO: In the unlikely event thunderstorms develop, they
could potentially produce up to 1.00" total in 60 minutes.
A LOOK AHEAD: Tomorrow, isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms are possible due to return flow from this system.
Minimal precipitation is expected. Temperatures will reach the upper
50s to low 60s with winds from the southwest at 5-15 mph.
Precipitation will fully conclude late Sunday night as this impressive
system meanders east. Temperatures will rebound quickly on Monday with
afternoon highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s under mostly sunny
skies.
