These showers will likely hang around over the next several hours before tapering off, keeping a chance across the District for light to brief moderate rainfall through 2am Wednesday. - Cooler temperatures currently around 70 degrees should help limit any rainfall potential, however with dew points in the upper 50's to around 60 degrees combined with a weak front moving in from the N/NE later this evening, any rain showers could potentially produce strong rainfall at times resulting in a LOW threat for Messages 1 to be reissued this evening. STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Typical rain showers will produce a trace to 0.2" in 10-30 minutes. A moderate to strong rain shower could produce 0.2-0.6" in 10-30 minutes. WORST CASE SCENARIO: A moderate to strong rain shower/isolated thunderstorm has the potential to produce 0.6-1.8" in 30-60 minutes.
